I'm kind of following Roger Hargrave's methods in his Double bass publication, but trimming the edges after the violin is assembled. Overhang 2,5-2,8 mm. 4,5 mm thick. And the best tool for the job is hanging over the edges. Image 3 & 4, It's amazing how all the "clumsiness" goes away and the edges becomes elegant, just like Italian instruments. Just under 4 mm thick in c-bouts and ~4,5 mm in the corners. I really like this edge work method! 1.1.2015 |
