Varnish is a very important factor!

The base timbre is the same but it's not "muted" anymore

Modes before/after with chinrest (humidity 35-38%)

A0   268/272

B1-  439/442

B1+ 526/528

In other words no significant change in frequencies, taking humidity into account they are about 5 Hz higher (ebony vs boxwood setup)
